Summary
ASME International leads a consortium that includes three other pre-eminent standards development organizations: The American Petroleum Institute, ASTM International, and CSA America. Their collective effort, Consortium for Standards and Conformity Assessment (CSCA), will result in the establishment of a CSCA presence in Beijing. Through CSCA, the consortium will form relationships with peer agencies, monitor standards development, and promote acceptance of consortium members' standards and conformity assessment systems. CSCA seeks to achieve these goals by (1) establishing a physical presence in Beijing with a director and support staff, (2) establishing a library, (3) preparing Chinese marketing materials and a website, (4) obtaining market and standards information of strategic importance, (5) networking with government agencies and standards officials, and (6) conducting training.
